Smile Doctors is the largest orthodontic support organization (OSO) in the United States, adding more than 100 new locations in 2025 and expanding its network to over 580 practices across 36 states. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Smile Doctors operates exclusively in orthodontics - offering braces, clear aligners, and related treatments for children, teens, and adults. The organization uses both an affiliation model and a joint venture model that allows orthodontists to maintain local ownership while benefiting from centralized resources, and runs a de novo development program for new office openings.

Leadership

John Hedrick CEO

J. Hedrick joined Smile Doctors as CEO in December 2019, bringing extensive multi-site and operational leadership experience from consumer-driven businesses. Most recently he served as CEO of Pei Wei, a private equity-owned fast casual restaurant chain he helped grow to a $300 million business with 200+ locations and 6,000 employees. Prior to that, he was COO of NPC International, the nation's seventh-largest restaurant operator with 1,300 Pizza Hut and Wendy's locations and annual revenues exceeding $1.2 billion. His earlier career includes leadership roles at Pilot Flying J, 7-Eleven, and RaceTrac Petroleum. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Tyler McBee CFO

Tyler McBee has served as CFO of Smile Doctors since September 2023. Previously he was CFO and Chief Accounting Officer at US Anesthesia Partners from 2017 to 2023, and before that served as VP of Finance at Reliant Rehabilitation. Earlier in his career he spent nearly a decade at KPMG as a Senior Manager. He holds a BBA in Accounting and Finance from Texas Tech University and is a CPA and CGMA.

Lynn Courville is CHRO at Smile Doctors, bringing over 16 years of HR experience. She held SVP of Human Resources roles at Mobile Mini Solutions and related companies. Her expertise spans employee relations, recruiting, benefits, training, compensation, safety, and payroll across restaurant, portable storage, and site services industries. She holds an SPHR certification, a BS in Human Services Administration from Cal State Fullerton, and an MBA in Management from Western International University
